INGREDIENTS

1kg lean beef mince

1 medium brown onion

2 stalks of celery, chopped

2 medium carrots, chopped

2 garlic cloves, crushed

2 cans of chopped tomatoes

4 tbsp tomato puree

1 bay leaf

1 1/2 tbsp dried mixed herbs

240ml red wine

1/2 tbsp salt

Parmesan rind (optional)

To serve

950g cooked pasta

Shredded parmesan, to taste

METHOD

Step 1

Add your mince to your slow cooker and break up the meat with a wooden spoon.

Step 2

Then, add your vegetables, alongside garlic, chopped tomatoes, herbs, seasonings and wine and mix well. Add your parmesan rind for added flavour!

Step 3

Once all ingredients are combined, cover with lid and cook on low for 7-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.

Step 4

Ensure bay leaf and parmesan rind are removed from your sauce once cooked.

Step 5

Serve with cooked pasta of choice and top with parmesan to taste.
