Tomato Pizza Sauce Recipe

8 large tomatoes, chopped 2 garlic cloves, peeled and chopped 1 small red onion 2 tbsp tomato puree 1 tbsp olive oil ½ tsp black pepper Small handful or fresh basil leaves


Step 1: Gently fry the red onion in the olive oil until soft, then add this to a blender and blend together with the tomatoes, garlic, basil, and black pepper Step 2: Add this mixture to a saucepan and bring to the boil, then mix in the tomato puree and simmer for 10-15 minutes until fully reduced- the passata should be thick enough to spread on the pizza base, if it’s not, continue simmering
