Beef and Ale Stew Recipe

Ingredients

500g beef shin/beef skirt, diced
750ml beef stock
500ml bottle of ale
100g green beans, sliced
3 medium carrots, peeled and sliced
2 large potatoes, peeled and quartered
1 large onion, thickly sliced
1 parsnip, peeled and sliced
1 turnip, peeled and quartered
1 sprig of rosemary, finely chopped
1 sprig of thyme, finely chopped
1 tbsp plain flour
Vegetable oil
Salt and pepper, to taste

Method

Step 1: Combine all ingredients into the ceramic cooking pot and stir thoroughly.
Step 2: Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
Step 3: Serve with warm bread or on a bed of rice.

Tip: Brown the meat beforehand in a frying pan before adding to the pot for an added depth of flavour.
