Lemon and Poppy Seed Waffles Recipe

Perfect in our EK2249 Deep Fill Waffle Maker


200g melted butter
125g plain flour
1 large egg
Zest and juice of 1 lemon
180ml buttermilk
2 tbsp poppy seeds
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt


Step 1: In a large bowl, mix together the plain flour, poppy seeds, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
Step 2: In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, butter, eggs, lemon zest, and lemon juice, then transfer the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and combine
Step 3: Lightly grease the non-stick cooking plates and preheat the waffle maker, then pour the waffle batter into the centre of each cooking plate until they are ¾ full and cook for approx. 5 minutes until golden brown
