A perfect mix of sweet and savoury, this waffle recipe is ideal for any Sunday brunch. The mix of sweet maple syrup and crispy, salty bacon makes for a delicious flavour profile.

INGREDIENTS

250g plain flour

360ml whole milk

2 large eggs

6 tbsp melted butter

2 tbsp white sugar

4 tsp baking powder

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp salt

6 rashers of cooked bacon

maple syrup, to serve

METHOD

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix together the plain flour, white sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until fluffy. Add the melted butter, vanilla extract, and whole milk.

Step 3

Transfer the dry ingredients into the bowl with the wet ingredients and whisk to combine.

Step 4

Lightly grease the waffle maker's cooking plates and preheat the waffle maker.

Step 5

Pour the waffle batter into the centre of each non-stick cooking plate until they are approximately 3/4 full.

Step 6

Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 7

Top the waffles with the cooked bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup to serve.
