Curried Sausage Roll Recipe


700g sausage meat
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground turmeric
150ml/5fl oz red wine
2 tbsp olive oil
½ lemon, juiced
500g puff pastry
1 egg, beaten
Sesame seeds


Step 1: Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Step 2: Add the olive oil to a frying pan and add the garlic and onion, cooking until soft. Add the spices and cook for a further minute, remove from the heat and add the lemon juice. Set aside to cool. 

Step 3: Add the sausage meat into a bowl and top with the spice mixture, mix until combined.

Step 4: Roll out the pastry until around 3mm thick, brush the longest side of the pastry with the beaten egg.

Step 5: Use the spiced meat to make a sausage to lay across the pastry, there should be around 2cm of space around the sausage.

Step 6: Fold the pastry over the sausage and press the edges together to seal. Cut into individual rolls using a sharp knife.

Step 7: Place on a non-stick baking tray and brush with the beaten egg before topping with sesame seeds.

Step 8: Cook for around 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
